Transportation Operations Manager

We are looking for an experienced transportation operations professional to take charge of daily dispatch and fleet coordination for a busy cross-border freight operation. This is a senior role suited to someone who can lead a small team, keep service running smoothly, and make sound decisions that support profitability and efficiency. The successful candidate will oversee load planning, scheduling, and driver coordination, while maintaining close communication with drivers, customers, brokers, and internal teams. Core responsibilities include assigning freight, monitoring transit progress, managing exceptions such as delays or equipment issues, and helping ensure deliveries are completed on time. You will also review rates and load opportunities, balance utilization against operating costs, and help reduce unnecessary empty mileage and downtime. This position also involves coaching dispatch staff, strengthening accountability, improving operating processes, and supporting driver retention and performance management. Regular reporting on fleet activity, revenue trends, service levels, and productivity will be part of the role. Collaboration with safety, maintenance, payroll, and finance teams is expected. Candidates should have significant experience in transportation dispatch or operations, including prior team leadership. Strong knowledge of cross-border freight, regulatory compliance, customer service, and modern dispatch and tracking systems is important.
