This role is responsible for evaluating and qualifying new or revised tooling used in manufacturing, making sure it performs as intended and meets required quality expectations before release to production. You will review engineering drawings and 3D models, support dimensional checks and capability studies, and work with toolmakers and design teams to confirm that parts are within specification. The position also involves using inspection and measurement methods to assess tool and part accuracy, along with documenting results and tracking changes.
A key part of the job is developing and carrying out validation plans, including relevant qualification activities where needed. You will help manage project timelines, investigate tooling issues, identify root causes, and support corrective actions. The work may include trial runs, troubleshooting, and process refinement during development and production ramp-up.
You will collaborate closely with teams across product development, quality, procurement, manufacturing, and external suppliers to keep projects moving and resolve issues quickly. Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment is important, along with a strong understanding of precision tooling, molding processes, statistical analysis, GD&T, and CAD-based design review. A background in mechanical or manufacturing engineering and several years of relevant experience are typically required.
