Superintendent, Operations

An experienced operations leader is needed to oversee day-to-day and long-range maintenance activities within a public sector works environment. This position reports to senior leadership and is responsible for guiding teams that support roads, fleet, facilities, and related service areas. The role focuses on keeping essential services reliable, safe, and well organized. Key duties include planning work schedules, managing seasonal priorities, coordinating maintenance programs, and helping deliver projects on time and within budget. The superintendent will also supervise a mixed workforce, provide clear direction and performance support, and work with contractors and internal teams to ensure work meets operational, safety, and regulatory requirements. Additional responsibilities include assisting with purchasing, preparing estimates and reports, and contributing to emergency response and service restoration when needed. The successful candidate should have post-secondary training in a relevant field, or an equivalent mix of education and experience. Several years of progressively responsible experience in public works, maintenance, construction, facilities, fleet operations, or a similar setting is required, along with leadership experience. Knowledge of budgeting, procurement, asset planning, and health and safety practices will be important. Experience in northern or remote environments is an asset.
