Structural Engineer

We are seeking a structural engineer to support prefabricated timber and modular building projects from early estimating through fabrication and construction. This role works closely with project managers, estimators, external design teams, and internal colleagues to develop practical, buildable structural solutions for mass timber, light wood frame, and modular systems. Key responsibilities include contributing to budget and tender-stage planning, reviewing layouts and structural concepts, and helping identify efficient alternatives when needed. During design-assist, you will support coordination with project teams, provide input on value-focused design options, and complete basic calculations to help guide engineers of record on capacities and connection details. As projects move into execution, you will assist with structural challenges that arise in construction, support responses to technical questions, perform delegated design for connections and members, and review internal structural work completed by other engineers. You may also be responsible for structural design of modular units across lifting, transport, and final service conditions, along with shop and field reviews. The role also involves staying current with applicable codes and standards, contributing to internal tools and reference materials, and supporting the development of guidelines and design practices. A bachelor’s degree in structural engineering, professional registration in Canada, and several years of relevant structural experience are required, with mass timber and modular project experience considered important.
