Senior Technical Officer

This is a full-time leadership opportunity for an experienced science-based technical professional to support practical teaching across multiple campuses. The role combines team supervision, operational coordination, and hands-on technical support to help ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of laboratory and other practical learning activities. Working closely with academic staff and technical colleagues, you will oversee day-to-day service delivery, provide specialist advice, and help maintain the standards needed for effective teaching. Responsibilities include supporting staff management, coordinating resources and facilities, contributing to roster and workload planning, and helping ensure compliance with relevant safety, biosafety, and risk management requirements. You will also assist with equipment oversight, troubleshooting, and preparation of practical sessions, while promoting continuous improvement across the service. The position suits a calm and capable leader who can guide a team, work across different sites, and manage competing priorities in a complex environment. Strong communication skills are important, along with the ability to build productive relationships, support staff development, and respond constructively to change.
