Senior Systems Engineer – Rail & Transit
This role supports systems engineering and systems integration on rail and transit projects, with a focus on consulting and pre-design stages. The position involves developing key systems engineering deliverables, helping reduce risk on brownfield transit projects, and supporting projects across North America, including Canada.
Responsibilities include applying systems engineering principles such as systems breakdown structures, integration plans, interface control documents, requirements development, and systems assurance across the full systems engineering lifecycle. You will also contribute to the preliminary and detailed design of signalling and train control systems, related communications, and supervisory systems.
Additional duties include developing safety plans, conducting safety analyses, maintaining hazard logs, and defining risk acceptance criteria. The role involves preparing electrical schematics for wayside, on-board, and control centre subsystems; producing technical specifications, tender packages, staging plans, and work schedules; and preparing bills of materials for signal design packages. You will also develop test procedures and commissioning plans, ensure design packages are ready for procurement and construction, and provide technical support to internal and external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will coordinate with other discipline leads, support proposals, manage quality and technical sign-off, meet project deadlines, and lead client meetings while working in accordance with relevant safety policies, procedures, codes, and standards.
