Senior Software Safety Engineer

We are seeking an experienced software safety professional to support safety activities across autonomous systems and related hardware and software. In this role, you will work closely with safety leadership and engineering teams to help define, analyze, and verify safety requirements for both supervised and unsupervised autonomy concepts. Your work will include identifying hazards, assessing risk, and performing safety analyses using established methods such as FMEA, FTA, and related system-level techniques. You will help translate safety findings into clear functional and technical requirements, maintain traceability, and support evidence needed for deployment in regulated operational environments. You will also collaborate with systems, software, robotics, hardware, and testing teams to make sure safety expectations are practical, testable, and covered by verification work. The role involves reviewing safety-related software in areas such as perception, planning, localization, and control, along with defining fail-safe behavior, monitoring logic, and other protective mechanisms in embedded or real-time environments. You may also contribute to safety case documentation and track safety performance indicators over time. The ideal candidate has several years of experience in safety engineering for autonomous systems, automotive, aerospace, or industrial applications, plus a strong software background in C++, Python, or robotics frameworks. A degree in a relevant engineering or technical field is required. Compensation is expected to be in the $160K–$180K range.
