We are seeking an experienced regulatory professional to support project development work in British Columbia. This remote role is focused on guiding permitting, compliance, and consultation activities for energy or other large-scale development projects. The successful candidate will work closely with development teams, environmental advisors, and external stakeholders to help move projects through approval processes while managing risk and maintaining strong relationships.
Key responsibilities include leading regulatory strategy, coordinating permit applications and related submissions, tracking approval timelines, and reviewing technical materials prepared by consultants. You will also help manage responses to information requests from Indigenous communities, government bodies, and other stakeholders, while supporting consultation efforts that align with legal and project requirements. The role also involves monitoring changes in relevant regulations, advising internal teams on compliance obligations, and identifying potential risks or delays early in the process.
In addition, you will support due diligence for new opportunities, maintain records of permitting progress and key milestones, and contribute to compliance after approvals are received. This position also includes mentoring junior team members and helping improve internal processes and knowledge sharing.
The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in regulatory consultation, Indigenous engagement, or community relations, along with a strong understanding of permitting and environmental assessment processes in British Columbia. Excellent writing, communication, and relationship-building skills are essential.
