A major underground mining site in Canada is seeking a seasoned senior leader to oversee core operational activity and support the wider executive team. Reporting to the General Manager, this position serves as a key operational deputy and will help guide production outcomes, reinforce execution standards, and build the capability of both technical and frontline leaders.
The role carries broad responsibility across underground operations, technical coordination, and delivery of the mine schedule. The successful candidate will work closely with technical functions to improve planning, decision-making, and day-to-day integration, while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with site objectives.
This opportunity suits a highly experienced underground mining professional who is comfortable operating in a demanding and technically complex environment. Strong leadership skills, sound judgment, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders are essential. A background in challenging underground conditions and exposure to geotechnical or ground control considerations would be highly valuable.
Key priorities include leading operational teams, supporting production performance, driving continuous improvement, maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, contributing to budgeting and planning, and stepping in for the General Manager when needed. Strong French language ability is required, along with extensive underground mining leadership experience and a relevant engineering qualification.
