Senior Legal Counsel

We are seeking a senior in-house lawyer to support a fast-growing financial services business operating in a heavily regulated environment. This role is hands-on and suited to someone who can work independently, turn complex legal issues into practical guidance, and help business teams move quickly while staying compliant. You will work closely with product, compliance, operations, finance, people, and leadership teams to support the design and launch of new offerings. The work will involve advising on a broad mix of regulatory and commercial matters, including securities-related issues, anti-money laundering, payments, consumer protection, and other topics that affect day-to-day operations. A key part of the role is helping lead regulatory initiatives such as reviews, audits, licensing matters, policy development, and interactions with regulators. You will also provide clear, business-oriented advice to decision-makers, helping them navigate uncertainty and make sound choices across legal, regulatory, and operational considerations. In addition, you will look for ways to improve legal workflows through automation, modern tools, and scalable processes. Broader responsibilities may include commercial contracts, corporate governance, employment matters, and strategic projects as needed. The ideal candidate is a Canadian-qualified lawyer with 5+ years of in-house experience, preferably in fintech, payments, financial services, crypto, or a fast-paced technology environment. Independent judgment, strong collaboration skills, and comfort in a dynamic setting are essential.
