This role focuses on advanced avionics integration for an autonomous aircraft program. The engineer will contribute to system architecture, hardware and software integration, verification activities, and test support across the full development cycle. Work will span lab setup, bench integration, simulation-based testing, ground testing, and flight test preparation, with an emphasis on building a reliable, production-ready airborne platform.
Key duties include defining interface requirements, supporting engineering documentation, and helping maintain system specifications and verification plans. The position involves integrating communications, navigation, sensing, flight control, and aircraft network subsystems, then troubleshooting performance issues across wired and wireless interfaces, power distribution, and vehicle data buses. The engineer will also help develop automated test utilities, data capture tools, and diagnostics scripts to improve visibility into system behavior during integration and test campaigns.
Additional responsibilities include supporting electrical integration tasks such as harness review, connector planning, grounding, shielding, and investigation of electromagnetic compatibility issues. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams in software, electrical, systems, manufacturing, test, and certification to move the avionics platform toward compliance and volume production.
Candidates should have a strong background in hands-on avionics, embedded hardware, or related systems work, along with the ability to read schematics and interface documents, use standard electronic test equipment, and write basic automation or diagnostic code. A degree in a relevant engineering field is preferred.
