This role sits within a vehicle development team and focuses on aerodynamic design, performance improvement, and handling qualities assessment for an advanced aircraft platform. The engineer will lead analysis work across the full development cycle, from early concept studies through prototype testing, to help ensure the aircraft meets stability, control, and performance targets in all operating conditions. Responsibilities include building and refining analytical and simulation models, supporting computational fluid dynamics studies, and contributing to sizing decisions for lifting and control surfaces. The position also involves preparing and interpreting load data for use by structures and stress analysis teams.
A significant part of the job is supporting test and validation activities. That includes planning wind tunnel programs, helping define simulation models for six-degree-of-freedom flight behavior, and assisting with prototype flight test execution and data review. The engineer will work closely with controls, propulsion, safety, and structures specialists to evaluate transition behavior between vertical lift and cruise flight, and to translate test results into design improvements. The role requires a strong background in aerodynamics, handling qualities, or vertical flight performance, along with experience in flight simulation, experimental testing, telemetry review, and technical documentation. An engineering degree in a relevant field is required, and professional registration or eligibility may be preferred.
