This role provides leadership for municipal recreation and community operations, including facilities, parks, community programming, special events, and local engagement initiatives. Reporting to a senior department leader, the position is responsible for coordinating day-to-day service delivery, maintaining strong customer service standards, and ensuring operations run efficiently and safely. The successful candidate will guide a team of supervisors and staff across full-time, part-time, seasonal, and casual roles. Responsibilities include supporting hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, and performance management, while helping build a positive and safety-minded workplace. The role also involves overseeing the condition and upkeep of recreation spaces, sports areas, trails, and community facilities so they remain clean, accessible, and well maintained. In addition, the manager will work with other municipal departments to support broader organizational priorities and community initiatives. The position requires the ability to address service concerns, operational issues, and public inquiries in a professional and timely way. Strong communication, leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills are important, along with a commitment to operational accountability and community-focused service.
