Principal Engineer

We are seeking a senior engineer to lead the technical development of an early-stage platform focused on automating complex operational planning. This is a hands-on founding role with broad ownership across architecture, implementation, and technical direction. You will work closely with subject-matter experts to turn business rules, constraints, and data inputs into a scalable software product that can replace manual, time-consuming workflows. The right candidate will bring extensive experience building cloud-based backend or platform systems and a strong track record of taking products from concept to production. You should be comfortable making core architecture decisions, designing distributed systems, and building reliable services, APIs, and deployment pipelines. Strong Python skills are important, along with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment with limited process and high accountability. This role will also involve establishing engineering standards, reducing technical risk, and shaping the long-term direction of the platform as it grows. Experience with AI-enabled features, orchestration workflows, optimization systems, or related operational software would be a plus, but is not essential. Familiarity with modern frontend and cloud technologies is helpful. Competitive compensation is offered, with a salary range of approximately CAD 180,000 to 210,000 per year, depending on experience.
