Medical Director

We are seeking a physician leader to oversee medical services in a long-term care setting. This role works closely with an interdisciplinary team to support resident-centered care, guide clinical practice, and help maintain a safe, respectful, and well-coordinated environment for older adults. Key duties include setting direction for medical services, supporting attending physicians and nurse practitioners, and helping ensure policies and procedures are current and followed. The Medical Director will review clinical practices, participate in care planning and case discussions, and assist with resolving complex resident issues. Additional responsibilities include supervising the physician-led team, confirming credentials and professional standing, advising on medication reviews, and helping maintain accurate health records. The role also involves participation in quality improvement, infection prevention, professional advisory, and peer review activities. You will liaise with external health partners as needed, support outbreak response and other urgent clinical situations, and provide guidance related to palliative and end-of-life care. Some after-hours involvement and occasional on-site presence are expected. The successful candidate must hold an active medical license in Ontario and be in good standing with the provincial regulatory college. Prior experience in long-term care is an asset, along with strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills. Familiarity with long-term care standards and a commitment to continuous learning are also important.
