Mechanical Engineer Team Lead A hybrid engineering leadership opportunity is available for an experienced mechanical engineer to lead a team of engineers and designers supporting the design and manufacture of electrical distribution equipment. This hands-on role combines technical leadership with active participation in design development, review, and issue resolution to deliver compliant, cost-effective, and manufacturable solutions. Responsibilities include planning team workload, supporting schedules, mentoring staff, and conducting performance and development reviews. The role also involves preparing and reviewing mechanical specifications, drawings, BOMs, and 3D models; performing mechanical calculations related to structural strength, thermal performance, and tolerance analysis; and ensuring designs meet applicable industry and customer requirements. Additional duties include supporting certification and testing activities, leading root cause analysis and corrective actions, and improving design processes and review workflows. You will work closely with electrical engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams to address manufacturability, testing, and cost considerations. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, 15+ years of relevant design engineering experience, and at least 3 years in a team lead or technical leadership role. Strong proficiency with 3D CAD tools and ERP systems is required, along with knowledge of fabrication, welding, sheet metal design, and applicable industry standards. Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills are essential.
