A legal firm is seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to join their team. This full-time position offers a hybrid work model and a competitive compensation package.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist legal professionals by preparing draft pleadings, court documents, memoranda, and correspondence. Revise legal documents as needed and troubleshoot issues with documents. Prepare transcriptions of written or recorded materials. Compile necessary documents such as Motion Records and Affidavit of Documents. Manage the service and filing of documents with the court. Enter dockets and prepare monthly accounts and expense reports. Organize and maintain both paper and electronic client filing systems, ensuring records are current in the document management system. Update calendars and contact information, and arrange travel itineraries as required. Perform additional administrative tasks, including client reception, answering calls, photocopying, scanning, sorting mail, binding documents, and assisting with meeting setups.
Core Skills & Requirements:
A legal secretary/assistant certificate, diploma, or paralegal designation is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience as a litigation legal assistant. Familiarity with class action and civil cases is essential, as well as knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with document management systems are necessary. Strong client service skills, excellent communication abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to work independently and collaboratively are important. Flexibility to work overtime may be required.
