An opportunity is available for an experienced solicitor to support economic development matters for Indigenous clients and communities. The role will involve advising on commercial transactions, financing arrangements, and broader business matters, with exposure to large and complex files. Work may include corporate structuring, reorganizations, project-related matters in resource and infrastructure sectors, and coordination of regulatory, environmental, tax, and related issues.
The ideal candidate will have several years of post-call experience, though a slightly less experienced lawyer may be considered if they bring the right background. Active membership in a Canadian law society is required, and additional jurisdictional admission would be an asset. A strong interest in serving Indigenous interests and building a practice in this area is important.
We are looking for someone who is organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing multiple priorities. Strong drafting, negotiation, advocacy, and client communication skills are essential, along with the ability to explain complex issues clearly to people from different professional and cultural backgrounds. The successful candidate should also work well in a team environment, support junior colleagues when needed, and be open to travel and relationship-building activities.
Compensation is competitive and based on experience, with a benefits package, retirement support, fee coverage, and professional development support.
