This role provides senior research guidance for a national knowledge and research function focused on language preservation and revitalization. The successful candidate will help shape research priorities, create practical frameworks and work plans, and advise on emerging issues, gaps, and opportunities. The position requires close collaboration with community partners, government representatives, academics, language specialists, consultants, and internal teams to deliver research that supports policy, programs, and long-term strategic goals. Key duties include leading multiple research initiatives from planning through completion, coordinating contributors and partners, and tracking schedules, deliverables, budgets, and results. The advisor will support the development of project documents and partnership arrangements, while ensuring work stays aligned with organizational priorities and community needs. The role also involves conducting and overseeing a range of research approaches, reviewing evidence from multiple sources, and turning findings into clear reports, briefing notes, recommendations, and other decision-support materials. A strong understanding of data governance, ethical research practices, and community-informed approaches is important. The position may also contribute to reporting obligations and research related to language vitality, documentation, demographic trends, mapping, and the use of emerging digital tools.
