Lead Document Controller
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Lead Document Controller to oversee the lifecycle, accuracy, security, and accessibility of company and project documentation. This role is responsible for maintaining document integrity, traceability, and confidentiality while ensuring compliance with internal standards, contractual requirements, and applicable industry best practices.
The successful candidate will lead information and data management activities across engineering, construction, manufacturing, and corporate functions. You will develop and improve document control systems and processes, supervise document control personnel, train stakeholders on procedures, and act as the main point of contact for document governance, compliance, and audit readiness.
Key responsibilities include developing document management policies, workflows, and protocols; administering and optimizing electronic document management systems and common data environments; creating standardized file coding, version naming, document numbering, and distribution methods; and driving process improvements and automation where possible. You will also perform quality checks on technical drawings, specifications, contracts, and other controlled documents before release, maintain registers and transmittals, manage version control and audit trails, and support internal and external audits. In addition, you will oversee secure retention, archiving, and disposal of records in line with organizational requirements.
Experience in document control, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential. Familiarity with document management systems and structured document governance processes is preferred.
