Intermediate Underwriter

We are seeking an experienced underwriter to join a collaborative property and casualty insurance team. In this role, you will review applications, assess risk, and make underwriting decisions in line with internal guidelines and applicable regulations. You will handle new business, renewals, and policy changes, while setting premiums, coverage terms, and conditions within your authority. A key part of the role is building productive relationships with brokers and other external partners, while providing timely and professional service to clients and colleagues. The successful candidate will bring solid underwriting experience and a strong interest in agricultural and rural risks. Experience with complex accounts is an asset, along with the ability to evaluate exposures, identify risk concerns, and apply sound judgement when making decisions. Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills are important, as is the ability to manage competing priorities and work with accuracy and urgency. We are looking for someone who communicates well, works independently, and contributes positively to a team environment. Familiarity with insurance legislation, underwriting practices, and common office and broker systems is expected. A college-level education is preferred, and progress toward a professional insurance designation is considered an asset.
