Head of Legal

Position: Head of Legal Compensation: $125,000 - $150,000 salary plus equity Location: Remote-friendly with in-office requirements 3 days a week This in-house legal role is ideal for a commercially minded lawyer seeking to lead the legal function within a fast-growing financial data organization. The successful candidate will serve as the primary legal contact, handling vendor agreements, customer contracts, compliance, risk management, and corporate matters. Collaboration with the founding team and various departments is essential. Key Responsibilities include: - Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements, focusing on customer contracts and vendor agreements. - Partnering with the sales team on enterprise customer negotiations and managing vendor relationships from a legal perspective. - Serving as the main liaison for external counsel on corporate, tax, employment, and IP matters while efficiently managing work and costs. - Collaborating with external accounting partners on legal and financial intersections, including corporate structure and revenue recognition. - Identifying and mitigating legal risks, designing company policies, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. - Supporting corporate matters such as financings, equity administration, and strategic activities, while providing practical legal advice to all teams. Requirements include: - A qualified lawyer with a minimum of 3 years of post-call experience, preferably in commercial and technology transactions. - Proven expertise in drafting and negotiating SaaS, data licensing, and enterprise agreements. - Strong business judgment and operational mindset, with the ability to handle a wide range of tasks in a startup environment. - Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying legal concepts in accessible language.
