General Counsel

We are seeking an experienced legal executive to lead the legal function for a growing publicly listed organization with operations that may include subsidiaries and joint ventures. Reporting to senior leadership, this role will advise the executive team and board on a broad range of legal, governance, compliance, and strategic matters. The successful candidate will oversee corporate legal affairs, including securities-related matters, mergers and acquisitions, financing transactions, commercial agreements, employment issues, regulatory matters, intellectual property, and risk management. A key part of the role will be supporting board and shareholder meetings, providing governance guidance, and ensuring strong corporate secretarial practices. This position also involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of business and transaction documents, working closely with internal stakeholders across functions, and managing relationships with outside counsel when specialized support is needed. The role requires a practical approach to minimizing legal risk while helping the business move forward efficiently. The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in corporate law, regulatory matters, and transactional work, along with leadership experience managing legal professionals. Strong judgment, business acumen, and negotiation skills are essential, as well as fluency in both French and English. A law degree and active membership in the Quebec Bar are required, with several years of relevant legal experience. Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package are offered.
