The Lead Hand is responsible for providing daily direction, support, and coordination of production employees within their designated area. This role acts as a working leader, ensuring that production schedules, quality standards, safety requirements, and operational objectives are met. The Lead Hand serves as a resource for employees, assists with training, and helps maintain a productive and positive work environment.
Key responsibilities include providing daily guidance to employees, coordinating work assignments to meet production requirements, and assisting with training and onboarding activities. The Lead Hand monitors employee performance, offers coaching on work practices, and communicates production priorities and safety concerns to the team. This position also supports supervisors in fostering a respectful workplace culture and acts as the first point of contact for operational issues.
In terms of production, the Lead Hand ensures that schedules and targets are met while maintaining quality standards, monitors workflow for opportunities to enhance productivity, and assists in troubleshooting production issues. Additionally, the role involves promoting quality standards, verifying inspections, and collaborating with quality personnel to address concerns. Continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste and rework are also supported.
