We are seeking an experienced forging technician leader to oversee day-to-day operations across multiple shifts in a manufacturing setting. This role combines hands-on technical support with frontline supervision, with responsibility for keeping production on track, addressing equipment issues quickly, and supporting safe, efficient operations.
In this position, you will guide a team of production staff, coordinate with maintenance and outside suppliers, and help ensure work is completed to quality, safety, and schedule requirements. You will also contribute to process improvements, assist with maintenance planning, and help resolve operational problems as they arise on the shop floor.
The ideal candidate has several years of experience in forging or press-related operations, along with a strong background in troubleshooting machinery and improving production processes. Prior leadership or supervisory experience is important, and experience in a unionized environment is an asset. Technical training in a mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing discipline is preferred, though comparable practical experience may be considered.
Strong communication, organization, and decision-making skills are essential, as is the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. Familiarity with workplace safety requirements, preventive maintenance, and common continuous improvement practices will be valued. Competency with standard office software and reporting tools is also expected.
