Distribution Operations Supervisor

This role is responsible for overseeing field crews and outside contractors supporting an electric distribution network. The supervisor ensures daily work is planned, scheduled, assigned, and completed safely, efficiently, and in line with operational priorities. A key part of the job is providing hands-on leadership to a team of technicians, including coaching, training, performance support, and clear goal setting. The position also carries responsibility for health and safety. The successful candidate will promote safe work practices, help ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal procedures, and support a strong safety culture through regular communication, follow-up on incidents, and corrective actions when needed. Core duties include coordinating construction, maintenance, installation, and repair work on overhead and underground systems, while working closely with engineering and project teams on planning, materials, and execution. The supervisor will also help confirm that equipment, tools, and vehicles are available and properly maintained, and may contribute to annual operating and capital budget planning. Applicants should have several years of relevant utility or electrical industry experience, along with supervisory experience in a similar environment. Technical training in a related field is preferred, and experience with work planning, safety practices, and basic computer systems is expected. A valid driver’s licence and the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, may be required.
