This leadership role is responsible for advancing Indigenous engagement, reconciliation, and culturally responsive practice across the organization. The position supports the delivery of anti-oppression and trauma-informed services by helping embed Indigenous perspectives into day-to-day operations, staff development, and organizational decision-making.
The director will work closely with internal leaders, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Indigenous advisors to strengthen relationships with Indigenous communities and partner organizations. Key duties include coordinating consultation and guidance on reconciliation-related priorities, supporting advisory groups, and helping ensure cultural protocols are respected in programs and services.
This role also includes leading staff learning related to Indigenous relations, cultural awareness, and reconciliation practices. In partnership with human resources, the director will help review recruitment and workplace policies so they better support Indigenous hiring, retention, and inclusion. Another important part of the position is helping develop respectful supports for community members who wish to reconnect with their home communities or access culturally appropriate pathways to care.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, experience working with Indigenous communities, and a commitment to equity, respect, and meaningful organizational change.
