We are seeking an experienced regulatory leader to serve as Director of Compliance & Practice Review for a public-interest organization. Reporting to senior legal leadership, this working director role provides both strategic direction and hands-on operational oversight of compliance, investigations, complaints, enforcement support, and practice review functions.
The successful candidate will lead a team of investigators and review specialists, ensuring work is aligned with legislation, regulatory frameworks, and organizational standards. This role requires a leader who can balance strategy with execution, manage workload and performance, and deliver fair, consistent, and defensible outcomes.
As a member of the leadership team, you will contribute to organizational strategy, strengthen regulatory programs, and support continuous improvement. You will also help develop educational tools and guidance to promote understanding of regulatory requirements and encourage voluntary compliance.
Key responsibilities include overseeing investigations and review processes, approving reports and recommendations, maintaining procedures and operational tools, establishing service standards, and modernizing systems and processes in collaboration with internal partners. The role also involves preparing operational and strategic reporting and building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry, government, and regulatory partners.
The ideal candidate brings people leadership experience, sound judgment, and a strong understanding of procedural fairness, risk-based regulation, and regulatory decision-making. Experience in complaints, enforcement, investigations, or practice review is preferred. This is an office-based position in Calgary.
