Communications Specialist

This role is responsible for supporting an organization’s internal and external communications efforts across a range of channels. The successful candidate will help plan and deliver clear, consistent messaging that supports business goals, builds positive relationships with key audiences, and strengthens public visibility. Key responsibilities include writing, editing, and publishing content such as media materials, public updates, campaign copy, website content, and other communications. The role also involves working with internal partners to shape messaging that is accurate, audience-appropriate, and aligned with organizational standards. In addition, the Communications Specialist will help monitor communication activity, identify potential issues, and raise concerns through the proper channels when needed. A major part of the position is social media coordination. This includes supporting content planning, maintaining posting schedules, adapting material for different platforms, and working with others to develop suitable visuals and other assets. The role also requires reviewing performance results, preparing summaries, and recommending improvements based on trends and engagement data. Candidates should have a diploma or degree in a related field, or equivalent experience, along with several years of communications experience. Strong writing and editing skills, familiarity with digital and social media practices, and knowledge of accessible, inclusive communication are important. The salary range for this position is $68,289 to $80,340.
