Chief Estimator

We are seeking a senior estimating professional to lead the preparation of competitive and accurate bids for civil construction work. This position oversees the estimating process from opportunity review through final submission, while supporting project selection, budgeting, and bid strategy. The successful candidate will work closely with operations, project teams, and senior leaders to ensure estimates reflect practical execution, risk, and business goals. This role combines hands-on estimating with team leadership. You will guide and mentor estimators, improve internal estimating practices, review contract and scope details, and help ensure smooth handoff from estimating to project delivery. The position also contributes to market review, client and consultant communication, subcontractor and supplier engagement, and the development of best practices and estimating tools. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in heavy civil construction estimating, including large and complex infrastructure projects. A background in civil engineering, a technical diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Strong knowledge of construction methods, productivity, sequencing, and field operations is important, along with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and contract documents. Leadership experience, sound judgment, and strong communication skills are highly valued. Proficiency with common business software and estimating systems is also preferred.
