Senior AI VFX Technical Director needed for a fully remote role supporting production workflows in visual effects. This position will own the architecture of a generative video pipeline, building tools and setting technical direction for how AI-generated content is used across productions. The role is focused on making workflows reliable, repeatable, and scalable for artists and supervisors. Responsibilities include designing, building, and maintaining production-grade ComfyUI pipelines and reusable workflow templates; evaluating and integrating new video models; solving challenges such as temporal stability, character consistency, motion control, and seamless integration with live-action footage; developing custom nodes and automation; managing local GPU inference, model weights, LoRAs, and performance tradeoffs; collaborating with VFX supervisors and creative leads; and documenting workflows to support team adoption. Mentoring artists and generalists is also part of the role. Requirements include deep hands-on expertise with ComfyUI and Griptape, strong knowledge of current video generation models, experience with image conditioning tools such as ControlNet-style workflows, LoRAs, IP-Adapters, and inpainting, plus Python scripting for automation. A strong understanding of VFX fundamentals and how generated content fits into compositing, roto, and color workflows is essential. Experience with local GPU environments, and prior senior TD or lead experience in VFX or animation, is strongly preferred. Additional experience with model fine-tuning, API-based generation, batch processing, and Nuke is a plus.
